No excuses, I think just the reality that the offensive line is poor.
The point there is that it takes that kind of playcalling and offensive scheming to protect the OL better. If you just keep running the same formations with the same vanilla, obvious play calling than the defenses will easily bottle everything up regardless of our talent- and this will make our mediocre line even worse because the opposing defenses will just key in and blow them off the ball. We need playcalling and scheming that keeps defenses unbalanced.
McAdoo is an offensive mind. He was a QB coach and an offensive coordinator before becoming our HC. If he cannot help guide this talented offense and open the playbook up in different formations to move the chains and get the ball downfield, his seat should get hot, because that means the side of the ball he knows best is severely underachieving. And if the offense performs like it did last season, against a tougher schedule this season, we won't make the postseason even if the defense performs better than last year.
