That was the plan: have Peart develop into the starter at RT so that the Giants don't need to spend another high pick on the OL.
That plan went to hell in two ways. Peart didn't impress and now he is hurt.
I would spend the first three picks on the OL, the two first round picks and the early second round pick. I know they need a pass rusher as well but that will have to wait until 2023. The Giants aren't winning a championship in 2022 anyway. We are just hoping to see some progress.
Good points. I don't have a ton of confidence in the Giants ability to evaluate OL and it is harder to evaluate third-fourth round picks than blue chippers, players who excelled in college and are on everyone's radar as a first round pick.
If I had more confidence in the Giants ability to evaluate OL properly, I would be open to the idea of relying on second and third day picks. And maybe the new GM will be very competent in this area; obviously, Gettleman was not.
The Cowboys aren't the best example, since they haven't won anything, but they definitely invested high picks on the OL: T.Smith (first round), Z.Martin (first round), C.Williams (second round), and he isn't on the team anymore but T.Frederick (first round). On the other hand, the Cowboys did find T.Biadasz in the fourth round and L.Collins was an undrafted free agent (albeit not your typical undrafted free agent--he was considered a first round pick at one time).
