You raged against OBJ like he stole your wife and pension. You weren't sure you could root for this team anymore with him on the roster. You stood on your soapbox and condemned his perceived moral failings, left and right. (All because of a 7 second video that didn't even get the image conscious NFL to investigate.)
there's a lot to disagree with with my position...understood..., but don't misquote or misreprensent my position...It was not the seven second video alone and I said that clearly and repeatedly at the time. There were a long series of instances. He hurt the team with the Norman affair and if he had some justification that was still a whole game when he lost it and took penalities. I never saw anything quite like. Nevetheless, I was ok with and defended the guy.
The dog urination simply moved me away. Not just because it was vulgar and offensive( and I'm from a different generation and reserve the right to be offended thank you), moreover he took a penalty, hurt the team. And and this was after this type of behavior had been spotlighted and he should have known better. . It seemed to me analogous to Elliot who, when under the gun for sexual conduct, pulled up a girl's blouse in public. That's someone, like OBJ who seems out of control and not dealing with the situation.
. And yes on the heels of that and whether seven seconds or fifty , the apparent cocaine in the room, the apparent passing on of a woman sexually to the next guy to screw..... It's not just that I think that's morally reprehensible (sorry that annoys you so) but it's self- destructive. He's out of control when he let's that become public and "public" moves it to another level.
So yes, I had always liked the kid and loved his talent and yet during tha t time I would have loved to seen him traded. I've always been that way, sorry that's such an annoyance. for you.
And you're misrepresenting both his injury history and potential. He lost a good part of his first year. And all of his third. When you deny that you're denying the facts.? Moreover, I think his style, that remarkable ability to make dramatic cuts and to accelerate with amazing speed, , in other words, the same things that make him the best I've ever seen, might very well make him vulnerable. Great talent doesn't help when it's on the sideline.
I think, and have always said , that he's a transdental player. He has the best hands I've ever seen, he runs the best routes I've ever seen, he is among the very best I've ever seen after the catch.
I don't like him as a person anymore...though I think he has potential to "get it " and straighten himself out.
I am surprised that that bothers you so much.
I also don't agree that we can get just cut Flowers. I think his contract costs us money this year whether we cut him or not and as long as we're stuck with him we should make every effort to get some return.
