So basically he has 2nd round skill set but a 4th or 5th round size and wingspan. It's the major difference between him and Kadarius Toney. Toney is over 6 feet tall and just as slippery if not more so.
Wandale jumps very well for his size and is good at adjusting to the ball which helps him: but his 5' 8" size will limit him sometimes. His game win the pros will be predicated on quicks and speed and separation. Wandale also was a great YAC (yards After Catch) guy in college. If he can keep that going in the pros it will make for lots of big plays.
Wan'dale is actually more of a deep threat than KT IMO. Wandale can do some of what darius slayton did for the NYG a couple of years ago in that regard. kadarius being bigger can line up outside more, and Wandale is more of a slot guy, presumably. Both of them can be used in the backfield as Rbs or on jet sweeps or on screens and reverses.
Add SB to the mix, and the possibilities are endless. fakes and trickery and gadget and all that stuff. All three are running as well as receiving threats.
No longer will Shep or engram or guys lacking burst and speed be the guys used for reverses etc. KC and San Fran type skill sets have made it to New York.
It should be interesting to say the least. I'd expect lots of spread and 4 WR sets and less TE stuff. I'd expect DJ to be getting the ball out of his hands quickly more often which should help DJ. Adding Wan'dale to the mix will give DCs lots to think about when facing the NYGs!
But if the NYG can't stretch the field effectively, it could be tougher than we think on the offense again. the NYG will need to prove they can make defenses pay for cheating up toward the LOS. That is something they couldn't do the last few years. Adding Wan'dale and having better schemes should help to open things up.
Robinson has better rout running abilities then Toney. Toney I don’t believe understands the route tree and why he is running a particular route in an particular play. If you noticed. Toney only ran 3 or 4 plays last year. Slant, go, screen, come back. I could be srong but I don’t remember him running to many routes. Major problems with that and his ability to be a good teammate and pro
I read that he wasn’t asked to run the full route tree at Nebraska or Kentucky. He was mostly asked to go deep or run a bubble screen. And he needs time to work on the running the complete route tree and working on decreasing his drops.
He could be a fun little player, but they could’ve drafted him later then second round. I would prefer getting a plug-and-play player with a second round pick. Robinson won’t even be a starting WR for the Giants. And how many snaps will get?
