stole this from 2 other threads. this embarrassing display by the OL and TE is worth watching repeatedly. these breakdowns happen all to often.
Agree
But disagree
This is my point. Jones threw the ball 27 times right? 18/27 for 169 yards. Every team (well most) have protection issues on a handful of passing plays called. I would say about the same amount of plays let’s say 5 are blocked up right. Let’s say 5 each. That leaves 17 plays that are off script. Maybe pressure gets there a little quicker than expected, maybe the defense has the right play called, maybe they call an all out blitz, maybe the coverage is tight or the pocket is crowded and Jones has to move and reset. This is where the problems are with Jones. The meat and potatoes of the offense. The off script plays. The plays where Jones has to adjust on the fly if a receiver gets jammed or is rerouted or covered. This is where Jones needs to understand the offense, defensive play that’s called and what to do next. This has to be decided quickly and the hall still needs to find the right guy. You can go back and look at every play. There are plays Jones goes to the right guy. There are plenty of plays where there were much better options to go. No one is perfect. I get that. If Jones turns 10 of those 17 off script plays into positive plays. They can play and score with the best of them. It comes down to this. I keep hearing Jones needs more help. Bottom line is the best player on the field and the guy making the most plays for you should be the quarterback. NOT a receiver or Barkley etc. we have seen if the ball is thrown. They make plays for Jones. Yes there are drops, etc. now I was watching the Chiefs a few weeks ago. Kelce even drops balls. Mahomes has balls dropped too. The difference is Mahomes will coke off his first read, reset his feet and move to his 3rd read in a snap of a finger and that ball is out!! Jones takes waaayyy to long to do this. I believe it’s lack of ability to read the defense and understanding where to go with the ball. Instead of that he is saying to SEE a receiver open. And that is a problem. Especially when your Oline is struggling. Jones needs to help them by getting the ball out quicker
