The problem with constantly posing this question to fans is:
1. We aren't scouts. We can only go off of what the media shows (TV broadcasts) and tells ("draft experts") about players.
2. We don't know the skill set that Schoen and Daboll are looking for in a QB to fit their system and plan. Using a fabricated extreme here: We as fans might say, "we need a QB with a cannon of an arm and gunslinger mentality who is going to push it downfield a lot." Whereas Schoen and Daboll might be looking for a "run first QB who can thrown short/intermediate routes."
Again, that's a made up extreme to demonstrate that we have no clue what this regime is looking for in a QB. So it's impossible to sit here and try to satisfy the "if there's a better option, specifically name who it is" request.
Your reply, (the ONLY reply) is exactly the point I was trying to prove. Fans probably shouldn't be so adamant and vocal about their opinions if they don't have a solid foundation to support it.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion. If their opinion doesn't have a good logical supporting argument then no one cares....
If your opinion is "The Giants shouldn't retain Jones" your argument should have a foundation including the alternative to not retaining Jones. If it doesn't, then who cares? Stop constantly posting it
The same can be said about any opinion: it should have a solid foundation to support it. The problem is that what one side considers a solid foundation is oftentimes dismissed by the opposing side no matter how solid the foundation appears to be.
Inconvenient truths, I have found when debating people across all subject matters, are rejected because of what is known as cognitive dissonance.
For instance: I could warn a smoker of the dangers of smoking and provide a solid scientific foundation for my opinion, but because that person loves smoking, they will dismiss the scientific evidence supporting my opinion.
Point being is that your emotional attachment to a thing can and does override factual evidence and inconvenient truths.
That being said, I will be relieved to see what transpires with the Giants and Daniel Jones after the season, one way or the other.
That doesn’t mean you or I have to agree with the outcome, but having some sort of closure, I believe, will be helpful.
