Big boys are beautiful. There was a blessed moment in the last game where I saw eight offensive lineman in the game Nicky Gates in motion and two others pulling.
This can be a template of how we stand out in the NFL and make other teams change their attack. I think Kafka is onto something: using Barkley in a way other teams cannot stop-- along with eight rhinos.
In this way we run when we want to run, we tip our hands that it is a run and of course open up a whole bunch of other play action opportunities should we choose to employ them.
The Lions will give us our first look at rookie EDGE Aidan Hutchinson. The 2022 No. 2 overall pick has started each contest, and has amassed 5.5 sacks and 10 total QB hits, to go along with an interception and a single pass defensed. <---- Hutchinson also already owns a three-sack game, which came in Week 2 against the Washington Commanders.
Another rookie Draft fanatics will be familiar with is Josh Paschal, a second-round pick, he has some gettyup in his game. Alim McNeill, a second-year pro, has started in each game of the Lions' 2022 campaign and is a decent player.
Linebackers are a big weakness to the Lions D. Alex Anzalone is the veteran leader of the bunch and the best of the bunch, he is one of only five linebackers in the NFL this year with at least 70 tackles, a sack and one forced fumble. To be honest the rest of the Lions LB's lack explosive talent. There should be great opportunity for Danny and the play action.
Only player that stands out as having promise is guy I really liked in college: Derrick Barnes. In his second year and fromPurdue Derrick can tackle. In fact against The packers he had 12 tackles <-------
Attacking Detroit's corners is pretty simple: Stay away From Okudah. The Ohio State product is on pace for a career-best campaign, and is coming off a week in which he recorded the first pick-six of his NFL career.
In nine games this season, the 2020 No. 3 overall pick has produced 50 total tackles, an interception, five passes defensed and one forced fumble.<------
The other members of the Lions secondary can be picked on. Only safety Kerby Joseph shows any promise. If Danny wants it-- He can burn this unit.
On offense the Lions are led by Jeff Goff... cue the laughter. Goff’s seven interceptions are concerning, as are his five fumbles in nine games.
Three of those takeaways have been returned for touchdowns, Pro Football Focus ranks Goff 29th of the 39 QB's probably worse than Danny.
The only receiver worth noting is Amon-Ra St. Brown Boy Did I Have This Guy Right! I don't know if you remember but I was super high on Ra in the draft and he turned out to be a steal. Battling a high ankle strain thank goodness!
The O line is a strength of the Lions, they are good and they had a really good Tight end but he was traded! T.J. Hockenson is no longer on the Lions and I have to say this will be the difference in our match up. With TJ the Lions are with us every step of the way. Without him they lose by at least 10.
