Again my curiosity gets the best of me when such a general, broad statement is made.
Were they bad plays because they didn't work, maybe someone missed a block or something or is it just that you would have preferred another play.
I remember the Giants using a similar plan in several successful Super Bowls going back to Parcells and Bellichek playing Buffalo. Run the ball with Ottis Anderson who gained like 100 yards on 30 carries, depend on your D and shorten the game keeping it away from Kelly and his explosive offense ...
I think it's fair of the OP to point out the offense's lack of productivity in the 4th quarter. i think it was a mix of playcalling and lack of execution, to be fair. If that Feliciano penalty doesn't happen (lame penalty.....but that is a foul in the NFL now....players have to be more aware), it's possible we maybe get another first down, get a FG and we celebrate a win.
I also think we have to give the Commies D a little credit........this is the only team to beat the Eagles this year. That front 4 is very good. We weren't coming into this game and pushing them around and running the ball. In the first half, we executed a variety of plays to generate some run production for Saquon and DJ. But in the second half, the Commies were reading that. We didn't really adjust.......although I don't know that we have the weaponry to adjust.
My only disappointments on offense CT is that I would just like to see us run some conventional passing plays more often along with the motion all over the place and misdirection stuff. Just line up........do the best we can to run a play we think can win against the defense.....and execute. That last drive we were doing well dialing up a few of those. Can we just put the jumbo guys out there on 3rd and 2 and win that one?
Also, the decision to not try and get a pass into the EZ at the end of the first half came back to bite us.
Looking at things in the perspective of the season and the future of the Giants........can we take the training wheels off of the offense? I totally get the risk and NFL Coaches are out there to win games.......and managing games is truly our best path to victory. But we've had greater success than I think SChoen and Daboll expected they could have if you got them off of the record. Lets integrate some standard west coast concepts and let DJ try and pass us to victory sometimes. We aren't beating the Eagles or Vikings by managing the game. We will have to gain close to 400 yards to have a chance. And Saquon is not going to run for 200 yards and Jones for 100.
Maybe they just don't believe in DJ at all with what happens in practice? None of us will truly know.
