Spotrac is way off (again) if you ask me.
Slayton missed the first 6 games and still went for over 700+ yards, right? So extrapolating that it says he was well over 1000 yard WR.
I believe he will get paid way more than that Spotrac thingy says.
Slayton is actually listed as having played in 16 games, although he does have only 71 targets on the season, some of the big name, high end receivers have over twice the number of targets.
Slayton is tied for 38th in the league in YPG which might be skewed a little due to not having many targets in some of the earlier games he played in. Slayton's YAC is pretty weak as expected. He's not a tackle breaker or highly elusive runner. He's fast, so if he can catch the edge on a crossing route or something like that he can gain some yards that way, but he's way down the list for YAC with receivers. (e.g. Barkley is far higher than Slayton)
And then there's the wow plays. You know, the one-handed grabs, the jump between two defenders and pluck the ball away, the break a defenders ankles with a cut, the huge burst of speed to pull zoom past a CB and safety. Does Slayton do those things much, if at all? Not really. IMHO, he's a WR who has enough talent to belong in the league, but he's not a #1 guy. In my mind, since after his rookie campaign, he's always showed as a borderline #2 to #3 receiver. And I like Hodgens better as the #2 because he looks more reliable. It's my opinion, maybe I'm wrong and the Giants think more of him, but I doubt it. Not enough 'wow' moments, and too many 'ugh' moments.
I just don't see slayton getting signed for such a low number. Am I wrong?
