I'm expecting some regression to the norm. There is still a lot of work to be done with the roster. I'm not enamored with last year's draft class relative to the draft capital they had at their disposal. The pro personnel department and FA acquisitions relative tot he money they had to work with were stellar and the coaching was fantastic.
2024 is the year I'm expecting more. 2 more drafts and FA periods should make a huge difference in the roster and help close the talent gap significantly, if the new regime gets it right, that is. If they Gettleman it all up, lol, then, well...
(yes gettleman-ing can be used a verb now lol ) It's like knuckle-heading.
I'm feeling Golden here. We still have work to do to really round out the talent on this team. And frankly, the WR talent available in Free Agency is not exciting to say the least and there isn't a ton of excitement in the draft at WR, or so it seems. Best thing for the O is to continue rounding off the offensive line. 2023 is still about adding talent to the overall roster.
On D.......please.....please.....PLEASE sign a legitmate ILB/MLB. If all we did was throw a boatload of $$$ at Tremaine Edmunds......and had a a few minor signings from there, I would be ok with that. We need a rock in the Middle of the field at LB......especially the way this defense is run. We need teams to pay for trying to double Dexy and LW on the interior.
The rest of the work is finding who the rest of the guys are that will be keepers on the roster and getting them signed. Might only be 3 or 4 guys.....but that's the work ahead of us.
The TE FA market actually is pretty decent. We could get a solid player for a $4/$5 Million/yr contract.
The Conference we play in is bad enough that we might get away with 9-10 wins on our schedule. But we are still a solid notch below Philly, San Fran, and Dallas. Seattle might take another step forward. The Rams are well coached and I won't rule out a recovery......but they aren't a very intimidating team by the looks of it right now. I also think Detroit could be a team on the rise and the Vikings need to be respected if they play ANY defense.
