So yet another, "the Giants should have drafted..." thread? Let's see Darnold over Barkley, Becton over Thomas, and now Wilson over Neal. If we're going on recent history, I like the Giants' chances here.
While we arguing about hypotheticals about Neal's development, why are we assuming Wilson is going to keep getting better? Maybe he never repeats his rookie year. Maybe he gets hurt. Maybe he gets into off field trouble that impacts his playing time. See how stupid this game is? The Giants were never taking a WR with either of those picks. Both Thibs and Neal were expected to go in the top 5 on draft day. They needed a pass rusher and a Tackle more than a WR. End of story.
Had they drafted Wilson, the same people questioning the decision not to draft him would be arguing the Giants wasted a pick, because they just drafted Toney.
Yes it. Could change over time , but it’s not stupid To compare .
Lol @ toney being a reason not to draft a wr ,toney was a major question mark coming into last season ,
The Giants still need to upgrade the LOS on both sides of the ball, so I'm glad Joe Schoen used two top 10 picks to invest in OT and EDGE. Do I wish the Giants had drafted Devonta Smith or Micah Parsons in 2021 instead of trading down and drafting Toney, sure. Is Sauce Gardner a great player, Yes. Would Garret Wilson be WR1 on the Giants, yes. But so far I'm pleased with drafting Thibs and Neal and view those first two picks in 2022 as foundation pieces moving forward.
