I won't make any excuses; I'll just attack your assumption. 'That QBs take over games.' (They probably do, but it is a very rare occurrence.)
Case in point, both the Dallas and SF games so far this season. One would think with such a lob-sided final score, that the opposing QB must have taken over the game. But that's not the case.
- In the Dallas game, if anyone took over the game, it was Micah Parsons causing havoc on nearly every single play he was in on. Dak was 13 of 24 for 143 yards. That's not even good.
- In the SF game, Purdy was 25 of 37 for 310 and 2 TDs. Not bad on the surface, although the comp% is marginal at best, but, and it's a huge BUT, a ton of Purdy's yardage came from YAC where the receiver was breaking multiple tackles, and, and it's a big AND, Purdy threw THREE very pickable balls in the game. That the Giants D just couldn't come up with any of them. The SF game if anyone took over it was the SF receivers with their YAC. The SF defense wasn't bad, but I think they play dirty and got away with a lot of penalties.
Your assumption is that QBs take over games on a regular basis. I don't believe that is true. It takes a village and right now, the Giants are playing in a ghost town.
I guess it's nobody's fault. The only thing we seem good at is rationalizing why it's somehow okay to still be this bad after this much time.
