Brock Purdy's passes have been overthrown lately. More often than not they have been high and slightly overthrown. This opens up opportunities for the NY Giants defensive backs who are licking their chops at that prospect of who will pick Purdy off first and how often.
Quarterback Brock Purdy earned an overall grade of 65.1, his lowest regular-season mark since Week 13 of 2022. He finished the game 17-of-25 for 206 yards and a passer rating of 93.1, a new regular-season career-low as a starter.
Behind the magic dust is the 49ere QB beginning to show his faults? Brock overthrew three players on Sunday (and threw a ball behind Deebo Samuel on a key third down), and it raised some eyebrows. Defensive back coach of the NY Giants Jerome Henderson came into work today with his eyebrow's so high he looked like Eartha Kitt.
San Francisco has dropped 30 points two weeks in a row on two high-end defenses. The ceiling of this offense is unknown. But what is the floor? The entire right side of the 49er offensive line is below average. The RT can be beaten severely. The great offense which is great and unstoppable and demoralizing... has some holes the Giants can pry open further.
Sunday there were five trips inside of the red zone for the Niners, with three ending in touchdowns. <-- pretty good./
You can make a strong argument that the offense could’ve scored 45 points in each game.
The Niners averaged more yards per play than that did in Week 1, but also on third downs, only went 2-for-9. <---
When clicking this offense is unstoppable. I watched the first game and came away so impressed. The 49ers are scoring on 60% of their drives....

“Look at the players we have on the field.” Last week, it was Aiyuk. This week, it was Deebo. Every week, it’ll be Christian McCaffrey. And when you have George Kittle in your back pocket, you get 30 points a game.
Below are the three lowest-graded 49ers players on offense.
Spencer Burford, RG, 27.8,
Aaron Banks, LG, 55.2, 57
Add to that RT Turnstyle McKivitz.
This is called a " grouping " all of the bad talent is hiding in that offensive line. Are they getting by on their extreme talent without putting in the work?
The GIANTS have a clear goal this game-- It's about the Defense this time taking care of the sub standard OL of the 49ers and putting much pressure on the elbow of QB Brock Purdy who is coming off surgery which apparently makes him now throw the ball too high.
Get ready Safeties!!!! That ball be sailing right into your bread basket. I expect two interceptions from the Giants on the way to a surprisingly comfy TD win with an extra FG at the end...
We showed against the Cardinals that we are not game quitters--- From an old NY times article Bill Parcels...
At the back of Parcells's personal binder there are a few loose, well-thumbed sheets that defy categorization: a copy of a speech by Douglas MacArthur; a passage from a book about coaches, which argues that a coach excels by purifying his particular vision rather than emulating a type. Among the papers is an anecdote Parcells brings up often in conversation, about a boxing match that took place nearly 30 years ago between the middleweights Vito Antuofermo and Cyclone Hart. Parcells loves boxing; his idea of a perfect day in the off-season is to spend it inside some ratty boxing gym in North Jersey. "It's a laboratory," he says. "You get a real feel for human behavior under the strongest duress -- under the threat of physical harm." In this laboratory he has identified a phenomenon he calls the game quitter. Game quitters, he says, seem "as if they are trying to win, but really they've given up. They've just chosen a way out that's not apparent to the naked eye. They are more concerned with public opinion than the end result."
Parcells didn't see the Hart-Antuofermo fight in person but was told about it, years ago, by a friend and boxing trainer, Teddy Atlas. It stuck in his mind and now strikes him as relevant. Seated, at first, he begins to read aloud from the pages: how in this fight 29 years ago Hart was a well-known big puncher heavily favored against the unknown Vito Antuofermo, how Hart knocked Antuofermo all over the ring, how Antuofermo had no apparent physical gifts except "he bled well." "But," Parcells reads, "he had other attributes you couldn't see." Antuofermo absorbed the punishment dealt out by his natural superior, and he did it so well that Hart became discouraged. In the fifth round, Hart began to tire, not physically but mentally. Seizing on the moment, Antuofermo attacked and delivered a series of quick blows that knocked Hart down, ending the fight.
Parcells is no longer sitting but is now on his feet. "This is the interesting part," he says, then reads:
"When the fighters went back to their makeshift locker rooms, only a thin curtain was between them. Hart's room was quiet, but on the other side he could hear Antuofermo's cornermen talking about who would take the fighter to the hospital. Finally he heard Antuofermo say, 'Every time he hit me with that left hook to the body, I was sure I was going to quit. After the second round, I thought if he hit me there again, I'd quit. I thought the same thing after the fourth round. Then he didn't hit me no more.'
The 49ers will level numerous blows our way sending out terrifically talented performers on offense, we will absorb those blows and more. When the 49ers get frustrated that we are hanging around they will make mistakes; They will throw deep and inaccurately and the Giant defenders will have their chances for turnovers. It is not too much to say the Giants will need two turnovers to win this game. This Has Been An Impartial Review.
