Yes, it's only been two season so far. Remember, this was the same exact sentiment with DG. Reese was different. He started out really good in his first 3 seasons. Then he fell off the cliff. Even though Schoen is only in year two, there's been no needle movement in terms of talent. All summer long we all kept hearing about how fast this team had become and how we had a top 10 defensive line. I was asking myself, how?
The O line didn't receive the attention it deserved during the offseason outside of drafting a rookie center. How could this GM have thought this O line was acceptable? Does anyone think signing Rakeem Nunez-Roches for $12 million, with $7.5 million guaranteed was a good idea? I did the like the signing of Bobby Okereke. I think he's just trying to get acclimated with the scheme.
Where's all the speed at WR? Why are they starting Slayton and Hodgins? The coaching staff seems to be a little off their game as well. Truth be told, this team is gutless in the trenches. This is where championship teams are built, then on the outside. We have a trophy case that proves this. This is one area where Dallas and Philly have drafted circles around this team, along with other areas. They draft their players, get them ready, and they are on the field producing immediately. This team seems to be stuck with special teams prospects for the most part. How would you rate Joe Schoen's performance so far? How much longer do think he has to turn this around?
It's not hard to figure out what's wrong with this team. TALENT! When the Giants are on the field, the opposing team knows they are deficient. Look at what Kyle Shanahan said after half time. He said they were confident they could do good things in the second half against our team. That stings. I don't want to go through another GM coach combo in 2 or 3 seasons. I'm rooting for them to figure this out, but as of now, it doesn't look like they're on the right track. To play devils advocate here, could this mess we're seeing now be the result of not playing during preseason, with these first 3 or 4 games into the season being just that?
