I don't think Schoen drank the kool-aid from last year and was fooled into thinking the team is better than it is.
He's a pro, he doesn't have ties to many of the players on the team, he had an idea of what the state of the team was when he took the job and I don't think that opinion was dramatically changed after 1 season.
He admits there is a talent gap between the Giants, Dallas and Philly, who you play twice a year.
Being a pro I'm sure he has a short term plan and long term plan. It's not like this team was 1 player away from being a playoff contender every year.
He's got to have confidence in his ability to evaluate talent as well as that of the staff he put together. He totally re-vamped the scouting dept, modernizing it for which he was highly praised for on this board. That doesn't make him infallible but it was viewed as a step in the right direction.
I think with the injuries it's hard to judge the OL. Even with Neal, to the naked eye he looks like a turnstile but as others have posted here, maybe what appears to be obvious isn't so obvious.
It sucks that they are 1-4 and most likely will be 1-5 but what was a realistic expectation for the team after 6 games 2-4, maybe 3-3 ? They've been exposed on National TV as an embarrassment which adds to the pain. But given the circumstances what could we have reasonably expected?
There are still 11 games to be played. As players come back let’s use that time to evaluate this team. After all we weren't going to the SB this year anyway,
