We have no choice as fans but to trust the scouts and coaches and the GM. With that said, if they end up with a Top 5, Top 2 pick, and one of the elite quarterback prospects are available then I don't believe you can pass on them. Even if the front office and coaching staff honestly believes that Jones is a good quarterback and that this season is purely the result of mass injuries and bad luck (I don't believe that for a second), you can't pass up the chance to draft a potential star quarterback. Jones is 26 and he'll be 27 years old next season, and he has been injury prone his entire career (except for 2022). He's had two serious neck injuries and now a torn ACL. He has proven that he is unable to quickly go through his reads and make good decisions and consistently accurate passes. He's a bottom tier starting quarterback, or a good backup quarterback. He's not ever going to lead the Giants to a Super Bowl, unless they somehow built the greatest roster in Giants history and had a superior team around him (and that is NEVER going to happen).
You draft one of the elite quarterbacks and if that guy is good enough to start from Day 1 then you start him right away, or if he's not ready you start Jones next season until the rookie is ready.
In 2018 that seemed like the common sense approach as well, but Gettlemen arrogantly stuck with a declining Eli and drafted Barkley with the 2nd pick in the draft and look where the Giants have been ever since. I felt sick to my stomach that night when they drafted Barkley, and even thinking about that same thing happening again has me truly questioning if I can continue to follow this team. I will never root for another team, I would just stop following football. If I watched it would be real casual with no rooting interest. I'm right at that point and this would push me over the edge. It really would. Other teams are able to see who and what they are and make the correct moves, but the Giants seem to be stuck in mud and make awful decisions. It's truly maddening.
