When is it ok to quit?
This thought has been percolating in and around the NY Giants this week and in my own mind as well. For seven years we have published the Impartial Review rain or shine Joe Judge or no Joe Judge, nothing has stopped us. I suppose it says something about the depth of despair this year that I come into Sunday with no ideas.
Why is it so much worse this time? Because so much could of easily been avoided. Had Schoen just 5th year extended Jones we would all be sitting here now planning out the draft. The losing would be natural and self fulfilling and not that hard to take. But with the shadow of Jones still looming over this team and the confusion that upper management has had concerning the QB, we are left in actually much worse position than our record would indicate.
Truly floundering / no direction. Inside the building the " T " word is being uttered. And that " T " is not for Tommy De'Vito.
I am 90% sure Daboll has been told not to worry about the record from here- the standard bit of BS you have had in the press is how much Daboll could not stand a terrible record of 2 and whatever.. that he simply must get a few wins here to possibly save his own job or fix his own resume... I don't think so. I feel I can tel by his demeanor.. When Joe Judge had his terrible press conference.. that 11 minute diatribe.. that was born from just the opposite set of circumstances-- he really had to get some wins, pull that team back together or his ass was gone... Daboll much more relaxed and oddly sanguine about starting a third string QB.
The clues are there for sure-- Mara has told Daboll not to worry about wins and losses from here on out.
Wink Martindale: “You’re here to win, every day. Offseason, during the season, everything else, so we are playing these games to win them and play well.”
Well Wink tell that your coach friendemy because The Giants treated the pre season like it did not matter and that has revealed itself in our offense line play. Had we worked that unit longer in the pre the problems would of surfaced earlier and Changes could of been made.
I think the term ' tanking ' is a bit distasteful because the effort is more clinical. It's about Player Personal decisions-- Not getting Josh Dobbs <----
and it's about coaching decisions to play De"Vito and keep a straight face.. and Defensive calls that seem out of place.. playing lots of young guys that don't know what they are doing. Not rushing good players back off injuries... allowing one legged kicker to kick...
It's subtle and it's at the same time overwhelming your New York Giants are 100% tanking.
Just don't tell the players.
Giants remain steadfast against tanking narrative ahead of Commanders clash
Does anyone think for a moment that Daboll, coming off a Coach of the Year debut season, is willing to put a 2-15 or 3-14 record on his résumé?
I for one do. This Has Been An Impartial Review.
