One of the more impressive things about Devito is how he's able to sense danger around him and move up into the pocket. Has Daniel Jones EVER played behind this line and not taken a sack?
Devito wasn't sacked today and it's not like you could say: "Oh, so the OL must have blocked really well for him today". That's as far away from the truth as possible. He was running for his life most of the game. He climbs the pocket properly AND he explodes from "0 to 60" quickly, where Jones' top speed is far faster than Devito, but his "0 to 60" quickness is slower. That's where he gets in trouble around the pocket. Being tentative and not exploding forward when danger is around him. Devito is starting to get more comfortable behind center. He went from "not throwing a pass in his 1st NFL game" to making passes down the field.
He's not without flaws. Some of his passes have been borderline nightmarish (just asking to be picked off). He has missed passes to wide open WRs (that pass to the wide open receiver to the sideline). If Daniel Jones could take the good qualities from Devito and apply it to his game, he'd have the tools to succeed at a high level.
