I agree that the interior of the OL needs a steadier piece (although Pugh did a nice job when he got yanked off the couch). I would not be afraid to prioritize that. The OL dysfunction has to stop. Obviously, Evan Neal developing is a key piece of that puzzle.
The big problem this offseason is while the Giants do have some cap room.......it's not the kind of cap room where you grab 2 or 3 meaningful pieces. Chances are we probably have one 'splurge' FA and then at best the rest are depth plays. Even if we do a little cap maneuvering to open up some space. We aren't going to be able to acquire a legit starting G and T in this offseason in FA. We'll have to hope we can draft somebody that can be reliable that we can develop as well.
Honestly......we are in a little bit of a tough place. We have a few FAs of our own which would be nice to try and bring back......but as I mentioned, we don't really have enough space to pay our upcoming draft picks AND multiple $10MM/yr FAs.
frankly......we may be waving Saquon goodbye. It's unfortunate, but I think we have to prioritize other areas of depth and do our best to find a RB in the draft and a backup veteran.......i wouldn't hate D'Onta Foreman on a 4-5MM/yr contract. I think that's just where we are. And I hope Saquon ends up at the Chargers with Harbaugh....whom will actually use him. Or the Ravens.....they would actually use him, too. Multiple other teams.
I think that RBs will have a little bit of a FA re-emergence this offseason. I think the NFL might be realizing they undervalue RBs. we'll see.
Hard to see a way we can bring back Adoree and McKinney. We might just have to let those guys go and hope we can find some depth in the FA leftovers and maybe late in the draft.
I think we are going to need to lean on the draft a lot this year if we want to get to 10 wins.
Count me as a big 'No' on Trubisky. He was SO lame with Pittsburgh. I don't want that guy anywhere near the team. Chances are we are going to have a hard time finding a quality backup QB this offseason b/c I think the marketplace may overvalue them after the amount of injuries that occurred to the QB position this season. I'd be happy to bring in Darnold.....but he probably wants 5-10MM. And he'll likely get it somewhere.
