What's the point of posting at all, since nothing we say here impacts the outcome? It's just conversation, no more or less.....You don't have to like my opinion. I don't know what we are going to be, no one does. But, and I will say it with smaller words this time
I don't buy into hype. It doesn't matter what someone is "projected" to be. I only deal in results when it comes to how "good" or "bad" someone or a group of such is. So using words like "fixed" or "improved" have no meaning until proven.
Why would I rationally expect significant improvement? I'm looking at the talent on this roster and I'm seeing one that isn't built to contend. Sorry that bothers people. But yes, I don't have any expectations of this team contending for a championship before 2026. They don't have a franchise QB, and they won't have the cap room to build a team if they pay Jones this contract. That's not pessimistic, that's reality of a salary cap league. Realistically, they'll be a veteran bridge QB for us in 2025 and we're building for a guy we don't have yet.
All I have to go on is how this team and this front office has performed, and I have no reason to be any more optimistic than that. "Why watch then?" (I can guess the next question already) Because I like the sport. My enjoyment of the game doesn't depend on the Giants being good. Thankfully. If they win more than I expect, great. But expectation and disappointment go together. That's a life lesson for you from a not quite 60 year old.
Some of us like to talk a little more in depth about things like talent, fit, matchups, etc. that go beyond “everybody sucks until they prove otherwise” and taking 3 paragraphs to say that….over and over and over.
In the mean time, speculate all you want about who's good and who isn't, nobody told you not to. Some of us don't want to hear the Jones excuse train non stop either, but opinions vary.
