So Robinson was a free agent for a while and every team in the league had a chance to sign him, and didn't. So Robinson is basically forced to take a vet minimum contract with one of the worst teams in the league, one with a potential lame duck Qb to boot, and somehow he's trade bait? It sounds more like Robinson is hanging onto the NFL job by a thread and he could be on the sidewalk shortly.
So, that is why Schoen let McKinney & Barkley walk with nothing in return ? The article mentions 6 teams that could pick Robinson up if he is cut. That means he has some trade value. TOO many teams would easily give up a 6th or 7th draft pick in late October if they have had too many injuries at that position, even for a vet hanging on by a thread. I keep hammering at this, and y'all keep missing it - Schoen is a BAD GM.
SEE, I ain't the only one....
Here is the issue. Our team sucks from the Top on Down. This rebuild is another longer rebuilding process. Schoen and Dabol in their first year were able to generate an over achieving team by their mere presence and change. The talent really was not there and it showed in year two.
It was not really their Football team, as it was still Mara/Tisch and Gettleman. Because DJ had a good year their first season they made a hasty/quick decision to sign DJ to that enormous contract that he probably did not deserve to get at this time. It is what they probably felt Mara/Tisch wanted. IMHO, it was not until this year 2024 that Schoen stood his ground and stated Barkley should not be resigned for the numbers that he is looking for. I get it. Unfortunately for us GMen Fans we are going to have to wait to see what DJ delivers this year. If the offensive line does not cut our Sacks below 50 and we don't close the gap b/w sacks and sacked we will be nothing. Again, other than an Elite few(maybe) no QB stood a chance last year. I would not be giving Evan Neal much rope this year and if DJ has time and still looks mediocre at best, it is without a doubt time to move on.
I think Schoen gets one more year, even if this one sucks again.
