I think I have taught everyone a big enough lesson. Or at least I hope so. Indeed the Road To The Super Bowl thread was met with mockery distain and bad form on the part of some posters and Moderators. Now perhaps the clear vision I have is being re- assessed.
NOW LETS GET BACK TO BUSINESS AND BACK TO THE ROAD TO THE SUPER BOWL.
The State of The Dallas Cowboys- is weak.
"Bro, I have no idea, I'm going to be real," Parsons said. I really believe we're being tested. ... It has to come together. It's humbling. ... right now we're low as $%&!. Everyone has to be strong in their faith and say at one point, 'are we going to trust in God, trust in ourselves, trust in the team, trust in the framework of our defense? Because some of the stuff is at one point, it's just us being us. So when is the faith and trust going to be?"
In other words we FINALLY have this team in our building when they are on a downswing. Not that past matchups have seen the Cowboys come in playing beneath their expectations-- we have been the Get Right team in the past, but this time the very base of their foundation, the psyche of being a Cowboy- it's broken.
Two teams have run all over the Cowboys. And so the test of this game boils right down to the running game of the NY Giants. Behind our new and improved O line can we move the ball consistently on the ground as others have?
You can be sure the Dallas gameplan is 100% take away the run and let Jones beat you through the air... but is that such a wise move?
It's a good test of Daboll's play calling. I think the instinct is to be tricky- to pass when they think run.. I'm not so sure that's the best plan. what I don't want to see is alot of trickery and end around stuff and short screen passes.. lets burry those concepts and concentrate on getting our star receiver the ball as we have been- that the most important part- and keep at the run, lets see how long Dallas can hold out.
The Cowboys have surrendered three or more rushing touchdowns in consecutive games for the first time in franchise history, and their eight rushing touchdowns allowed in 2024 are more than half of the 14 they allowed across the entirety of the 2023 season. The 274 rushing yards Dallas surrendered to the Ravens on Sunday is the most allowed by any team in a game so far this season.
To be fair the Cowboys have played two high class running backs... Henry and Kamara in back-to-back weeks, now they get the lunch pail crew and NY Giants Devin Singletary. If there truly is a problem with the Cowboys front which for years has been so good we'll find out this Thurdsday night if " Motor " pulls off a similar feat as Kamara and Henry.
Jason Garrett on NBC’s "Sunday Night Football, labeled Dallas as soft.
“Everybody understands this about the Cowboys now,” Garrett said. “They’re not a physical football team — we have to go in there and run the ball. The last two years they were dominant at home. [But] I think teams have found a formula. Run the ball, get ahead. That’s what silences that pass rush. The Ravens controlled most of the ballgame because they handed the ball off [and] dominated the line of scrimmage.”
It's a delicious irony that Cowboy management is being crushed by their fans for being cheap at the running back position. And for drafting poorly.
Sound familiar.
It really does feel different this time. Our Defense showed us what it can do when we blitz a bit.. face it our guys like to blitz. Whether that's Wink holdover or not, one of the last things I said to you all before my absence was new D coordinator Shane would have to break trend and work in more blitzes..
Tell It To EliJah!
Quite a few guys on our D stood out to me last week but the guy I was so excited to see out there was Chatman. More please! Elijah brings a wonderful energy to the D and I like using him in stunts.
I have been very tough on Schoen for some of his draft picks and it is very nice to see Andru Philips play so well. Major score there for the GM.
Dexy is Dexy and the D has a lot more to give but the signs there are encouraging.
On offense it is a work in progress but the very best part is Danny is now wiling to just throw the ball to Malik. It would be great if that confidence extended to the other receivers but for now-- at least with Leek.. we have a guy that Jones is willing to throw to even if he looks shadowed and how many years have we been calling for that.. extra steps are taken, guys trip, DB's screw up , Malik can Moss them; there's still a plethora of ways to complete the play even when covered.
So there is no fear of Dallas as we enter this game. No playing the uniform as they say... Dallas is walking into a snake pit and the results should bare that out.
When I initially said the road the Super Bowl is Rocky I did not think I myself would be part of the rocky part. If anything I said to a poster here offended anyone all I can say is put your big boy pants on this is the NFL, don't cry to Mods and try and get folks banned and don't poke the bear.
That will get you far with me. Let's Do this!!!!
