Two things:
First, McAdoo wasn't a HC. At best he could be a OC. But it takes coordinators becoming head coaches to realize that they are in over their heads and should probably go back to being coordinators when they are fired. The Giants did panic when Philly showed a false interest in making him their HC. That and showing a video of an alpha lion or whatever the hell it was is more then reason enough McAdoo should of been fired.
Second, anyone who listens to what Mike Francesa has to say and believes him when it comes to the Giants should just have their fan card revoked. Isn't he a Cowboys fan anyways? I don't take the opinion of a radio show host, who complains about baseball players hitting .231 with runners in scoring position in April, seriously at all.
First - McAdoo was a HC. He went 11-5. Philly interest or not the team had no OL and no skill positions last season. Those facts seems to be dismissed for some to support a narrative of killing a coach with no chance while ignoring a roster. Not to mention, ignoring the actions of an owner, the dismissal of an entire OL, the fact Flowers can't bend like the coach said, so far he's correct about Solder, he must have been correct not starting Webb b/c he was cut and everybody is starting to question Eli which is exactly what Mac did. So he's not a HC despite being correct about a lot?
Second - the fickle fans follow the Francesa lead and he was never a Cowboys fan.
Lets forget that the defense basically quit on him. The infighting between Apple and the defensive backs. The DRC and Jenkins suspensions. That's to add onto the fact the entire WR core went on a boat trip BEFORE a playoff game. That shows a total lack of respect the team had for McAdoo. 11-5 masked a lot of problems that showed up the next year. They won the close games in 2016, but in 2017 they lost those close games (only counting the first 4, before the injuries happened). The offense was anemic in 2016, and didn't change in 2017 (before the injuries). McAdoo also wanted Webb when they couldn't get Mahomes in the draft. If he had problems with the roster, that's why you have communication with the GM about it. Apparently he didn't. But that doesn't change the fact that he LOST the team so he LOST his job.
Just because McAdoo is saying things after he got fired which is obviously apparent, he did nothing to change it while he was the head coach.
