Let’s face it. We all know Reese has drafted terrible for an exception of Odell and that is becoming a topic as well with his celebrations and off the field problems. Reese has failed to address the Line and when he does address it the players drafted or signed free agency are average on a good day. Failing with drafts year after year depleting your team of young talent at a good price forces a team to search free agency and over paying for talent. That’s exactly what this team has done
But Eli is 37 next year and is under contract until 2019. Releasing Reese and Keeping Macadoo rarely happens in football. Most GMs want to select there own head coach not inherit one. Plus if the Giants want to stay faithful to Eli do you think this team will fit the GM Scouts and coaches and start over with a 37 year old QB? More likely then not No
2 things will happen. Less likely the Giants select there new franchise QB next year release or keep Eli but start over in management and coaching and start the rebuild
Or most likely Reese stays with Macadoo both on final notice. Reese selects best player available high in the draft and we hope and pray they get it together
Problem is this team will have serious cap problems in 18 and bigger ones in 19 with huge contracts with Vernon JPP Snacks Jenkins Manning hitting there highest peaks of money paid and players like Pugh Richberg Odell Collins all neededing new contracts. Also take note Reese has a lot of players under 1 year contracts. With very little money to retain key players
What I would like. Love Eli and always will. But it’s time. Especially if the Giants pick Top 2. Releasing Eli gives the Giants 12.5 million in cap relief. Releasing Jerry Marshall Harris JT Thomas and a few others as well with about 19 million in cap space will allow our new GM to sign Pugh and be active in Free Agency to improve our front line and keep key younger players long term to rebuild By doing so the Giants would have 40-45 million in space not including cap increase to rebuild the line for our new qb. If they pick 1 or 2.
With the Brown and 49 era winless that may not happen. A loss to the 49ers is a big big game with draft order. I have a feeling the Browns will be picking 1 again
