As is stands now the New York Football Giants have the third pick in next year's draft!!!! The Giants have made incredible progress lately and stand now but a few losses away from having the second pick in the entire draft! My word!
The odds are with the Giants: According to The New York Times’ Upshot playoff simulator, the Giants have a 10 percent chance of getting the No. 1 pick, a 17 percent chance at the second pick and a 13 percent chance at the third pick. It adds up for a 40 percent chance at a top-3 pick.
History can be made!- This year’s NYG team looks like it will be a serious contender to finish with the worst 16-game record in franchise history.
Most likely they get the SECOND pick and oh the choices they will have. I believe the last time the Giants had the second overall pick they got themselves Mr Lawrence Taylor! What's kind of interesting from here on out is how the pick changes as we move from second pick to say sixth. It's safe to say we will fall somewhere in there.
At Pick Two I am strongly inclined to go with a defensive player, maybe try and duplicate that LT draft.
At Pick Six I know for sure who the Giants want-- he's a big Left Offensive Tackle... I'll keep his name private for now but readers of last years draft head might know who he is because early on I stated if he came out LAST year I was going to draft him.
Between Pick Two and six there are some Quarterbacks to consider. So the Giants now are in an enviable position draft wise. They can look at what they want to do over the next few years and if they want a QB of the future they can make sure they get one. If all they want is to work on the O line they can go that way as well just by winning a few games. It's all up to them.
Obviously it's way to early to be doing any extensive draft talk but lets just dabble here
The Giants target at QB is Josh Allen, Wyoming - He's right there with Josh Rosen. There is some talk of Rosen having a bad attitude, being a partier and having a sense of entitlement. His own teammates apparently do not like him, his high school coach knocked him... and he can throw the heck out of the ball! Personally I have always thought of Rosen as the next Giants QB but in last years work we highlighted Josh Allen as having the Phil Simms-like tools we are actually looking for. Although admittedly he's having a bit of a down start to the year.
On Defense I'm all about the Chubb. DE Bradley Chubb. NC St OUTSIDE LB or DE...Chubb is not thought of as a top pick now-- that will change. As a LB we also have Arden Key from LSU. A lot of SEC schools are taking a step back and LSU seems to have righted the ship and stepped forwards. The last few drafts have been Clemson, Clemson Clemson lots of Clemson players... this year perhaps we keep more of an eye on LSU...
Overall we have a possible solution at linebacker, many QB;s to choose from and quite a few Offensive Tackles. For now I'm not using Saquon Barkley in my NYG work. That could change but I got to either fix the the O line first or get me a new QB. As we seem to be on track for the Third Pick, you will see that means QB!
IF THE GIANTS HAVE THE
2nd Pick It Will Be->-Arden Key, DE/OLB, LSU. Currently ranked around the 10th pick. Arden should rise like a popover and enter the Giants pick zone. 2 might be a tad high. I'll be doing a lot of draft work on Arden.
3rd Pick It Will Be--> Josh Rosen, QB, UCLA // Mason Rudolph, QB, Okl St.//Or Josh Allen QB Wyoming-- Wow throw a dart here. BUT SOURCES SAY IT'S JOSH ALLEN!!!!!
4th Pick It Will Be-->- DE Bradley Chubb, North Carolina State. I have a very strong feeling for Chubb right now. Most feel he's a later pick. // Minkah Fitzpatrick Alabama S-- Have to throw him in as a pairing with Collins.
5th Pick-Connor Williams, Texas OT://Trey Adams OT, Washington// & Mystery OT who Giants like already.... Lot's of O Tackles!!!!
6th Pick- Harold Landry Boston College EDGE 6'3" 250 OLB. BC Has two good kids this year.
7th Pick- Jake Browning QB, Wash//. I like Jake.// Lamar Jackson, QB Louisville//QB Baker Mayfield, Oklahoma<--- Value QB's
8th Pick- Trey Adams, Washington OT
9th Pick-CB Isaiah Oliver, Colorado
10th Pick-Quenton Nelson, OG, Notre Dame.
LongShot* Clayton Thorson QB Northwestern
MOST LIKELY: JOSH ALLEN QB // if we stay where we are now....
MYSTERY OT // If we make a run and win some games
In between those some interesting defensive players, the Giants indeed do control their own destiny. ~stoney
