A day after New York Giants coach Ben McAdoo floated the idea that he would consider using some young players, and no position was being excluded, the two-time Super Bowl Most Valuable Player said that he definitely wants to keep playing.
Eli Manning told reporters Tuesday after the team’s workout that he didn’t hear coach Ben McAdoo’s comments on Monday’s conference call. Tuned him out.
“I didn’t hear it,” Manning said. “My goal is to prepare every week and do my job. He said that he’s got faith in me and to keep grinding.

The Giants face one of their toughest tasks of the season Sunday, how to lose to the 49ers without ticking the commissioner off. Certainly all eyes will be on the Giants and Eli and peeping eyes in the commissioner's office will be assesing whether this losing is being done on purpose or not. It is.
When exactly did the order come down that it was Ok to lose this season and what does that fact say about the various changes that have to be made. Obviously we played hard in Denver, then we fell flat again at home. I think after the Charger game is when the official edict was delivered that the owner is mad but not that mad and we should not believe the talk in mass changes.
A deal was struck that as long as the team performs in three games at the end of the season-- that would be enough. That is the official deal, Mara let it be known that all he cares about is how we ' finish ' are the players giving 100% and can we defeat NFC East teams. Mara drew a circle around the Dallas game, The Phily Game, The Washington game- Win these three. This is what happened. Why?
It really ticked me off when I received this inside information. I mean I hit the ceiling and delivered a few rants here in the form of posts but the more it sunk in, it revealed to me a few things. One the Giants know without ODB it's all a charade so why try. Two, I assume due to contractual situations the Giants don't mind at all having their defense humiliated. This must be an urge to fire Spags or the reality that certain folks cannot come back next year like DRC.
Injuries play a large roll here with the D more so than with the offense, Injuries was the tipping point to management which enabled this " Why Try " approach to the season. When asked what the Giants would call this form of play, in which you dress the part. practice really well and then lose on purpose-- the word came down, Keep Grinding.
As long as the fans think you are 'grinding' then the wool will be forever puled over their eyes. As long as we upset the Cowboys, Eagles and Washington... again, the fans will be mollified just enough, the NFL office will nod their collective head in approval and the Giants will have a four or five win season.
Why is that important? Well that goal of 4 or 5 wins tells me something... it tells me that their target at QB probably is who I think it is and/or the guy I think it is will be picked around pick five or six.
Which brings us to Josh Allen, Wyoming. This has been my guy for the Giants since last seasons draft. You may remember I posted a bit on him in the draft thread. Where oh where does Josh get drafted? I don't know. I see him as THIRD qb off the board am I right? <-- That's THE big question this year.
Sam Darnold I think will be #1 QB / he seems the most NFL ready.
Josh Rosen is going to tear up the combine. He has the physical look the Giants crave but what of inside his head? For years I was a Rosen is the next Eli guy, I've been tracking this kid for a long time. Now as the moment approaches... I waver. NYC might be too big for this kid's personality. I think Josh is the #2 QB /
Then comes our guy! Now other teams will be looking for other things not just QB's so Third QB off the board would fall right into that slot a four or five win team would have in the draft... Interesting eh?
There are other names obviously to be considered:
A) Baker Mayfield, Oklahoma- Best attribute: his ability to improvise. Not well suited for NYG offense as it stands.
B) Lamar Jackson, Louisville- Best attribute: So mobile so fast. Great value here for a GM where will lamar be drafted?
C) Jake Browning---- I believe this is a secret name. There are injury concerns here to a throwing arm but what makes
Browning special is his ability to hit receivers in the hands in stride, and he doesn’t make many mental mistakes. He has an incredibly high football IQ.
In high school Browning was equal to Rosen! in over three years as the starting quarterback in high school Browning threw for combined totals of 16,775 passing yards with 229 touchdown passes and just 40 interceptions. Ridiculous numbers I don't usually quite high school stats but in this case it's warranted I want you to understand the pedigree here.
Washington quarterback Jake Browning underwent shoulder surgery to repair an injury suffered in the Huskies' win over Arizona State on Nov. 19.
Jake Browning shows up as a mid-late first round draft choice in the 2018 NFL draft. Sam Darnold and Josh Rosen look like top five picks for the 2018 NFL draft right now. They are the top tier quarterbacks for 2018.
The second tier quarterbacks right now look like Wyoming's 6-5 Josh Allen, and Washington's 6-2 Jake Browning. <--- ONE OF THESE TWO IS A NY GIANT! THIS HAS BEEN AN IMPARTIAL REVIEW. ~stoney
