Agreed, but he’s also had some horrific OL play in some of those post 2011 years, and the defense blew several late leads last year. If we get solid OL and defensive play, I think Eli is still good enough to make the playoffs. Especially with the schedule. Lots of beatable teams and we get the Jets as an “away” game which helps.I pointed out Trubisky>>> Brady in QB rating to make the point that analytics aren’t the end all, be all.
I think their opinion is about right. Eli is still capable of a good game, but he is also very capable of having two or three bad games in a row. And he hasn't been consistently good for at least three years now. That's hard to ignore.
As to the schedule, one can easily argue that there are some weak teams on the schedule based last year's schedule, but the Giants opponents are also looking at the Giants as an easy mark based on their record. I think there are six or seven games where the Giants are evenly matched: the Dolphins, the Bills, the Bucs, the Jets and the Cardinals and Washington twice. But as any long time football fans knows, usually a team wins a game it isn't suppose to, but it will also lose one or two it was favored in.
I think this is not a playoff team. I think if the team maxes out, it could win seven games. But I think a more reasonable number is five or six. And I fully expect Jones to replace Eli before the season's end.
Green Bay at home is very beatable. They were what, 6-10 last year?
We knocked the Bears off last year too. Even though they had a great year, they could easily fall back to the pack and be a team we beat.
Yes, a lot of teams will look at us as a great chance as a win. That is true.
But this schedule is about as favorable as you can ask for. If we’re just a little better than last year and catch a couple breaks we could win 9.
