I said it in the GDT yesterday that the Jones series was the best looking QB play by a Giants QB not named Eli since Kurt Warner was here. We've had a lot of below average QBs backing up Eli since then. The kid looked comfortable....the TD pass was a beauty. He looked poised and decisive. I think the offensive system is one that's very comfortable for him based on his days at Duke. He looks better than the last Duke QB we believed in. :-)
I really don't care when/if Jones plays this year. I don't think it's the difference between us being a playoff team or not. I don't think our defense is ready for prime time. I don't see where this squad is generating a pass rush. Hopefully these rookie CBs will communicate better in future games.
I am personally just taking in this last year of Eli. GIants football since 2013 hasn't been much fun to watch. We wasted multiple prime years of Eli. I do think that Eli's deep ball has lost its bite. I'm not going to overreact to one series where Eli participated in one rollout pass play and they ran the ball on 3rd and 8. D Jones looks like he has a chance to at least be a solid starting NFL QB.....so I think we can all agree it's not if, but when Jones takes over. Even if we're a little giddy over the first preseason game. You watch enough football.....you can tell who has a shot and who needs work.
I hope some of you guys can just appreciate what Eli has meant as a reliable starting QB to this GIants team. He's going to be the starting QB. If he doesn't produce, he won't be the starting QB for too much longer and we can all sit back and watch D Jones develop.
