Ahhh you kidding?
You've just had the two best consecutive drafts in the history of the franchise. And that's almost not arguable.
Not only great pics at the top but depth at the lower end. Consider Connelly and Darius Slayton at the tail end of this year's draft.
Look at 10 years of not one productive pic with a number 3 and then in just two years look at Hill, Lorenzo Carter, Xamines and Beale.
I think Lawrence, peppers, Xamines and a boatload of cap space for a diva who is often injured is Highway robbery
I agree he isn't a bad handling the draft but I wouldn't say he's elite or anything. You're also comparing to what we came from, excellent picks here and there surrounded by disaster picks. Now we have decent/good picks but that isn't enough to justify his position. Lot's of other teams draft well or even better but they don't stop there they keep going and produce a team that plays like Peppers played yesterday.
Gettleman WAY over assessed what team he was taking over [huge mistake to make no?] and drafted Barkley with someone like Nelson sitting there who absolutely destroys whoever lines up against him [to be candid I would have taken Darnold or Nelson, probably Darnold since I would have benched Eli earlier]. Don't get me wrong, Gettleman isn't terrible, but I don't think he's good enough for what we want, which is a superbowl. I don't think Gettleman has what it takes to build a crap team into a contender. Has he done that before?
So yes Gettleman is good at landing decent to good players in the draft but that is just the start...you need coaches to develop these players and I don't see it.
Name one position group on this team you feel really good about going into any game. I'll bet the list is pretty short.
