Shurmur has become the talk of the town. The Giants have come to play in 2 games. Tampa and Patriots going 1-1 in those games. Washington doesn’t count. The Giants just haven’t looked prepared all season. Playing on there heels almost every week. Very little adjustments in any games. Zero answers for a struggling offensive line and defensive coverage. The Giants just continue to okay behind the 8 ball every Sunday and coaching is a big part of this I’m already starting to pay closer attention to college football and potential coaches that maybe a better fit for our Young QB and talented RB. Some say this team needs more talent. Really? The fastest TE in football, best RB in football. One of the biggest defensive tackles in football and 3 first round picks in our last draft. This team definitely has talent. Barkley Jones Engram Zietler Peppers Lawrence Golden That’s a start. Not to mention Hill ( what happened to him?) Coaching is a big part of this.

The only argument you can make to keep Shurmur is the development of Jones, so keep him the rest of the year i guess, the giants are going to tank this year, maybe 6 wins i can't see the giants keeping him past this year.

Ctny, i totally wish i was wrong and that Shurmur was the right coach for the giants , but he is not. And you are correct why fire him now and go thru the interim charade, just fire him after the season and see what young, creative , energetic non retread coaches are out there.
It’s becoming more and more clear that Shurmer has his hands to much on the offensive side and not as a team entirely. Rarely you here him taking in deep talks about his defense. Always points missed opportunities, Barkley, Jones etc. defense settled down a bit. Duh.
He needs to give up play calling and focus on the team as a unit. Plus his offense can’t pass protect so stop focusing on play calling and get your rookie QB right, pass protection right and your defense on track. Every week you here him say we will fix it. And every week it gets worse. Everything that needs fixing still needs fixing plus more problems arise. The only bright side is Baker is playing better and Golden gets one sack a game Even our kicker is in a funk. The wheels are coming off

Post game conference saw Shurmur stonewalling big time. He moved his hands pointlessly, rubbed his forehead and took secret sighs. Behavior indicates that he is frustrated and feeling despair. He doesn't know whether to $#!t or go blind at this point. I felt bad for him.

Shurmur will get to finish out the season but if we show no signs of being competitive, then he and the rest of the staff need to go. Another year of this dumpster fire is not acceptable. A replacement might not be better but right now it is hard to be much worse.
I do wonder, if the giants went all in on jones, making the starter from day 1 over eli, how much more advanced would he be? He would of had a lot more 1st team reps in the oats, and training game.
I strongly suspect he gained a lot by observing from the sidelines. The poor OL play has had much more of a negative impact on Jones than any missed reps with the first team. I also suspect that when the OL plays against a sub par defensive front 7 we will see an improved performance from Jones.

rodney27: You're right about the fumbling problem, tl65taog. I just don't think it can be fixed. He had in preseason, has it at a record pace now, and had the same problem at Duke. If he hasn't fixed it in all that time...I just don't know if he can.
