Mark what did you expect any GM coming into this situation to accomplish in his first 2 years ?
Start with the Eli decision. Right or wrong I don't think any GM coming in would have had the option of cutting Eli. For better or worse Eli was finishing his contract as a Giant. Again for as many people who believe Eli was washed up there were just as many saying he could still play in the NFL. Honestly do I think we would be 2-7 with Eli as QB, no but at 4-5 maybe 5-4 we'd be in the division race. While we wouldn't be a SB contender I think being in the race would be good for a lot of these kids to experience, like the Yankees bringing Jeter with them to the playoffs the year before he took over at SS.
He's completely turned over the roster in his 2 years so there has been little time for cohesion.
You need to look beyond his words into his actions. While he never said rebuild what has he done, turn over the roster, sign a bunch of players who have NFL experience to 1 or 2 year deals so there's no long term commitment, allowing him the ability to replace them. Even the Solder deal fits a rebuild, but unfortunately he over paid. The question remains, once he lost the Carolina guard to TC he needed a plan B to solidify the left side of the line. Was Solder the best option, in hindsight no, but at the time, understanding he was being overpaid he did present a serviceable upgrade. Not sure what other LTs were available but that was the pick.
I think he gets 1 more year. See what he does as far as the coaching staff and personnel.
How many changes have the Knicks made and where has that gotten them ? As iffy as Cashman was once looked at patience with him turned out pretty good.
I expected to see signs of improvement. I see a group of young players being constantly abused week in and week out. I see us making a lot of Eli Apples.
“Worse every year”....he’s been here two years.
“Save one or two”....and who would those 1 or 2 be? Name names....so I can then correct you for all the ones you left out.
You’re not big on honesty, huh?
