If the Giants do can Shumur then the following may be options:
Romeo Crennel - history with Giants, doing a great job with Texans D
'Stone Cold' Jim Caldwell - love his dispassionate nature; overall a winner
McCarthy - not my choice, way too conservative but an overall winner
Gary Kubiak - Solid HC but probably not going back to the sidelines; former QB would be beneficial to Jones
Kellen Moore - has Cowboys offense cranking; former QB would be beneficial to Jones
Byron Leftwich - doing a good job with Bucs despite having Winston as QB; former QB would be beneficial to Jones
There are others of course but those come to mind initially
I think this team needs a young innovative OC like Kellen Moore. He's probably way under qualified for a HC position. But I give the Cowboys credit for thinking outside the box and giving the job and play calling duties to Moore. Moore was on their roster in 2017, retired in 2018, became QB coach and then promoted to OC all over the course of a year and a half. So far he's done a pretty good job. Not saying he's a good HC candidate for the Giants, just the kind of guy I wish we could find for OC.
Another guy I like is 49er's DC Rob Saleh. Another young coordinator finding success. He's very intense. They had to hire a guy to keep him from going onto the field when he gets excited.
Dallas' Offense is currently Ranked #1 by PFF. Niners Defense was ranked #1 before last night. Both with young inexperienced coordinators. The NFL evolves pretty quickly, I think a lot of these older coaches like Shurmur get caught up doing things the same way they've been doing things for over a decade.
Again, not saying these guys are HC candidates, I just wish we had coordinators like them.
