I saw him play in college and had no idea he would flourish in the NFL but the credit is also around the Ravens for making him the centerpiece.
Watching the game tonight with the Ravens and just drooling at the old school style football of smash mouth running and enabling Lamar Jackson to utilize his skill set and keep the defense off balanace
Risky pick and it paid off only in that they have built their offensive scheme around the players they have with Lamar as the centerpiece and RPO. Not as much Pass...only after set up by the run
So it got me to look at their OL and make up. Where did they get these guys and build a good OL? They make running lanes and are why they lead the league with over 200 yards rushing per game average. Passing #19 in the league but should move up to mid pack after tonight.
Only first rounder is the LT
LG- 6th rounder
Center -undrafted (like Sean Ohara)
RG 3rd round
RT 3rd round
They have some big TE who can block. Kid from delaware was a 5th round and other TE 3rd rounder
And they have Ingram who is a downhill runner and now got a speedy WR in the draft last year.
Amazing to me their OL , which maybe isn't the best but has to be roadgraders to lead the league in rushing
Yes..I know Lamar is a big part of the rushing lead as he makes plays with his feet like no other and actually leads the team in rushing too.
Danny Dimes is not Lamar Jackson. And I do believe in smash mouth football with a balanced passing attack wins football games (actually believe in defense wins games first but thats another rebuilding storyfor us) . But we need to really fix this OL over the next 2 seasons to have any shot at competing.
And it doesn't take first round picks as you can see. Just getting some talent and not making total misses like an Erik Flowers.
