" I beseech you in the bowels of Christ, think it possible you may be mistaken" -Oliver Cromwell ........................................................................................................... “The map is not the territory.” ― Alfred Korzybski ........................................................................................................... "To avoid all evil, to cultivate good, and to cleanse one's mind — this is the teaching of the Buddhas."
I read that article a while ago and it left me shaking my head. They're talking a presure rate of 11% is great, and hits on the QB deserve more emphasis. What just doesn't make sense is that neither a pressure, nor a QB hit guarantees an incompletion. In fact the QB who takes the play to the very last split second before delivering the ball often does so to make a play develop, and gets the completion and often a big play.
Sacks are not a stat to take by themselves; but they are a huge play. It guarantees loss of down and yardage, and opens up the potential for a strip sack fumble. A sack can often change the course of a game, or cement a victory. The guy who finishes the play and gets the sack has a whole lot more value in my book than the guy who gets close. It's a horseshoes and hand grenades type of thing.
I don't know if the Jags are going to let him reach free agency, though. The GM has already said he plans to restructure and free up space in order to bring him back.
J.Clowney will be a free agent. However, he has said that he wants to play for a proven winner. Obviously, due to the fact that the Giants have been the worst NFL team over the last 2-3 years, I doubt Clowney will want to sign with the Giants. But maybe the Giants can somehow convince him to buy in. He will require a lucrative contract.
I like the idea of signing a pass rusher in free agency and then spend the first two picks on a LT and C.
not at 4, there is no Quentin Nelson this year. Some of these guys are pretty good, just not#4 good. Now if they can trade back and get an ot and and extra pick, then yes. There doesn’t seem to be immense separation between the top 4 or 5 guys. There are also some intriguing 3rd 4th round guys.
Trading back is what the Giants should do. They can be in the perfect position to bribe a pick out of the Dolphins or Chargers if Tua has good reviews medically.

rodney27: You're right about the fumbling problem, tl65taog. I just don't think it can be fixed. He had in preseason, has it at a record pace now, and had the same problem at Duke. If he hasn't fixed it in all that time...I just don't know if he can.
