First question... "Why retire now. I thought you said you had something more to give"
Eli said it was the right thing and the right time to end his career as a Giant. Didn't want to go somewhere else and move his family.
Last game gave Eli closure and helped him to solidify his decision to retire. Eli acknowledged the home crowd and the great farewell from fans.
Not ruling out a future role in the Giants organization in some capacity. Genuinely not sure what he wants to do next. In the near-term, looking forward to down time, Asst Basketball coach for his Daughters basketball team... family time.

One of the nice things about this farewell for Eli was the current and former players on the stage. In particular, I loved to see David Diehl, Rich Seubert, and Shaun O'hara standing next to Eli. It both reminded me of a time when the Giants OL worked together and worked well...
I finally got home from work. Had dinner with my family and we all sat and watched it. I fought the tears the whole time. 16 years is a long time. So many memories of Giants football. To be honest. I have more memories watching Eli them I do of LT. Only because I was so young when LT played and I watched football as a basic Giants fan then. Today and over the last 25 years I watch football as a fan, a poster here, and hopefully knowledge of the game enough to talk about more then just stats. Eli Manning has given me so many memories I will never be able to discuss them all. He will always be my Quarterback and I probably will never wear his jersey again sympathy because I want to keep in perfect as I can.
Thank you Eli. For everything.
To Jones. You have huge shoes to fill. As a player, teammate and person. I pray that you continue building what Eli started and hope you give us all 16 years of similar play.

rodney27: You're right about the fumbling problem, tl65taog. I just don't think it can be fixed. He had in preseason, has it at a record pace now, and had the same problem at Duke. If he hasn't fixed it in all that time...I just don't know if he can.

tl65taog: yes the fumbling problem has to be fixed, but you have to be fair about it
