Give up a 3 & 5 for Darius Slay... 29 yrs. Old (vs.26) coming off a bad year, where PFF rated him 97th of 133 cornerbacks and gave him a grade of 56. On a team where Wentz, Graham and Cox have cap inhibiting salaries, the Eagles gave him $50 million for 3 years and made him the highest paid cornerback in football. That's not to knock the deal, time will be the judge, just as it is in our instance.
The Eagles are always one QB hit away from being very average. They seem to have a very large number of injuries compared to other teams as well. Signing Slay on the backside of his career is probably a so-so move, and the price was ridiculous.

They are still a more well rounded team than any other in the division.......although they were vulnerable last year do to their WR corps crapping out.
In today's NFL where you don't really have as much offseason training and in-season, in pad training, I don't think it's a bad strategy to use draft capital to pick up steady veterans that are on reasonable contracts. Especially if you are trying to stay on top. Rookies just take more time to develop than usual (see Bubba Baker) and if you are more of a 'now' squad, maybe a 'now' player is better? And hope you land somebody in the deeper part of the draft if you can.

rodney27: You're right about the fumbling problem, tl65taog. I just don't think it can be fixed. He had in preseason, has it at a record pace now, and had the same problem at Duke. If he hasn't fixed it in all that time...I just don't know if he can.
