We all want it, the extra pic and the tackle. We need the tackle desperately it's just a question that he's not worth a number four pick, so a trade down makes compelling sense.
But I think there are unique circumstances this year that are going to make it almost impossible, unless you're Detroit, to find a willing partner.
There has been a surplus of vets available this year, and Bridgewater, Tom Brady and Foles have reduced demand. Consider that Cam Newton and Jameis Winston are still on the market looking for homes. And the Jaguars seemed ready to go with Ministrew and Denver with Lock, while Tennessee invested heavily in Ryan Tannehill.
Then there's the injury to Tua, where once he might have been Head and Shoulder ( or hips and elbows) above everybody else I think he is in a pack that might almost be even.
What is the rationale for Miami, for example, to trade up to our number four spot? If they're worried about the Chargers, that's probably needless. If the Chargers take the quarterback that Miami coveted, so what? At this point, I don't think there is an incredible difference and Love and Herbert are likely judged to be in the same class or at least even. And then there's always the chance that the c
ChargeRs, should they jump over Miami, won't take the player that Miami coveted.
Detroit has a little bit more leverage, but even assuming that one team took Detroit's spot, that simply means another team that needed a quarterback is gone.
My tenuous conclusion is that, in this year when the Giants almost desperately want to trade out of the four slot, that it's going to be difficult to find a Suitor.
In fact, I would bet that the first three spots are set. Barrow, Young, Jeff okudah. So New York is looking at Simmons or one of the four tackles. And I'm glad I don't have to make that choice, cuz I have no idea what I would do
