Not to beat on this like a drum. But the value with getting LT trumps a player like Simmons 10/10 times. Simmons fell to 8 for a reason. Because the players taken ahead of him were in position of value. QB, LT, Pass rush, Corner all have much higher value then a player that really doesn’t have a position for. The cardinals already had a similar player in Reddick a few years ago. Flew up draft boards because he ran fast. But similar skill set. Very good in coverage, will be on the field for 3 downs. But may not be physical enough at the point of attack and can he get off blocks at the next level. Simmons May be a great athlete and has a rare skill set. But it won’t translate on game day of a guard or tackle blow him up over and over again. Simmons lacks physicality and in the NFL you need your linebackers to play physical, smart and fast. All your greats, LT, Lewis, Singlitary etc all we’re dominating players at linebacker because they were almost impossible to block. Trust me. Simmons is very blockable. To get him in position to make plays a team will need a dominating front 4 or to move him out of the box so he can let everyone else take on those blocks so he can make a free run at a player.
I don’t care how fast he is. You can’t out run 5 lineman, TEs and receivers blocking all at once.
