:::CAUTION NEW AGE NERDY STAT STUFF BELOW PROCEED W/ CAUTION:::
I was just doing some research to post in the "Rest of the division thread" but I dug so deep I thought it deserved it's own thread. I was curious how Gettleman's 3 draft's as Giants GM stack up against the division.
www.pro-football-reference.com/ Is the best site I know of for looking up stats. They have an interesting Metric called CarAV which basically puts a value to a players career.
It's defined like this:
The Career AV is computed by summing 100% of the player's best-season AV, 95% of his second-best-season AV, 90% of his third best, and so on. The idea is that the Career AV rating should weight peak seasons slightly more than "compiler"-type seasons.
To sum it up, players start their career at 0. Their CarAV value builds as a player produces throughout their career. For example Eli Manning started his career at 0, retired at 118 based on the above values. Tom Brady is at 186 but a younger star like Mahomes is at 39
Here's the comparison of the previous 2 drafts and how they've contributed thus far. Keep in mind the Giants had much higher capital than Dallas and Philly but pretty close or worse than the Skins. They also had more opportunities for young players to step in. Note - players drafted in 2018 score higher than players drafted in 2019 because they have two years of data to chose from, the 2020 class starts at 0.

Not necessarily a praise of Gettleman's drafts, just an analysis of where these teams might be heading based on their recent draft class progression...…
