There is some money yes but not near the money on other offensive side of the ball. And no where near the draft value
So we should be happy that we are investing in the protection and success of our previously highly invested picks.
See where I differ is that a lot of the poor oline play can be fixed with scheme, good coaching and smart qb play. No oline is going to be perfect, but having a good scheme and a smart qb who puts your team in situations to succeed goes a long way.
Basically what I am saying is even if the giants had a great oline on paper last year, I dont think they would of played that well due to jones being a rookie, a poor oline coach, and a head coach who should been a coordinator. Now flip that with 2020 Jones has a year under his belt, they have a "head coach" basically that is now the true coordinator and a far better oline coach.
Look at the pats last year, they basically had a no name oline and it was ranked one of the best in the league. Look at the eagles the year they won the sb. They lost there all pro left tackle and there starting qb, but they had a great scheme and a smart veteran qb as a backup.
Also, fans greatly underestimate the role a rb and a tight end play in the blocking scheme. Hopefully someday fans will put more emphasis on this but I doubt it. A good portion of the time the oline gets the blame when to me its either bad blocking by the rb or tight end or even worse poor coaching for asking your "non" blockers to go one on one with some great defensive talent.
I would of love to have been a fly on the wall in the qb meeting rooms last year. I always found it so strange how differently eli played in shurmurs offense than jones. I get it eli was trying to not get hit and just throw the ball out as fast as possible, but it was just so different than jones. Which is odd because shurmurs offense is more of a slant quick passing offense, get the ball out fast.
Which now is almost the exact different from Garretts offense, the air corylee which puts a focus in more downfield passing.
