Personally, I think think the “Fighting Irish” is extremely derogatory and insensitive. The Irish have a stereotype of being drunk and aggressive. My grandfather immigrated from Ireland and busted his ass straight off Ellis Island to make a living for his family.
Can we please get rid of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish?
While we’re at it, let’s get rid of the NHL NY Rangers and the baseball Texas Rangers. Look up the history of both, one in the same, and tell me why we shouldn’t forget and abolish that name?
The Minnesota Vikings offend me, check out their history, they were savages. The list goes on...can we just erase history so no one has anything to $@#! about?
Also Max Kellerman beat you to the Notre Dame question two years ago. The debate has been going on for much longer. Much like with Daniel Snyder, Notre Dame will look into it seriously when hundreds of millions of dollars are at stake.

As for the "Rangers" issue, that's a job profession, not a racial slur. Much like the Ottawa Senators example used earlier in the thread, it's a false equivalency. In fact it's so much of a stretch logically, please make sure you didn't hurt yourself and talk to the trainer(is Ronnie Barnes available?) before you leave the board today.
And, let’s not kid ourselves...anybody who has lived in NY or NE knows that the Irish like to get drunk and fight. Maybe they can change the name to the Notre Dame Whitey Bulgers 😉
