So you think it’s a good thing that baker is charged with 4 counts of armed robbery and instead of releasing him,he is on the commissioner inactive list and collecting full salary sitting on the couch ? That’s not rewarding baker ? That’s not a gross example of how a professional athlete being entitled and pampered ? Do you think a regular person can get charged with 4 counts of armed robberies ,get out on bail and get to sit home and collect a full salary.
Actually yes, many union's have a collective barging agreement. For example
Sources tell News 4 that Robert McCabe,32, and Aaron Torgalski,39, are being suspended with pay due to a collective bargaining agreement that has gone into effect after 30 days. This is normal protocol for this type of agreement.

Or this one
"A teacher at St. Augustine High School has been suspended with pay while the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office investigates a possible inappropriate relationship she had with a student, according to the school district."

But yes you are so right. Yours always right callie.
Nobody is rewarding baker. The giants are simply doing what is in the best interest of the giants. As any organization or company should do in this situation. You use the resources you have to protect the company. If that means baker is being paid during this to not play, then it is what it is. You always protect your company first.
The giants had every right to cut baker.but chose to take the easy way out,and hide. There is no bargaining agreement-that says the giants can’t. It baker-unlike those you referenced -in those cases the union agreement says there has to be an investigation, and the employee has to be paid while the investigation takes place- which is much shorter than the period of a criminal trial. And also in most cases the employer wants and tries to terminate the employer -again unlike the giants .
Like it or not, when you are a public sports team, your employees represent you-they represent what you value as an organization.
So let’s go over bakers behavior- he gets drafted, doesn’t know the playbook in week 12,gets called out repeatedly by teammates for falling asleep during meetings , then loses 70k during a poker game - and during a party in the middle of a pandemic -allegedly commits armed robbery . Gets out on bail, and the giants decide not to cut him-because I guess he’s been such a good employee ? But the league puts him in the ineligible list where he can collect hundreds of thousands of dollars for doing nothing . That is not a good thing-no matter what bs spin you want to put in it.
