while there are racist people and there are specific instances of racism within the system by individuals. the system itself is not racist. in the context that the system racially keeps people down, systemic racism is a myth. in the 60's there was systemic racism, not today. i'm against the bs claim of systemic racism as a scapegoat for peoples failures. also, i'm not cool with inequality. i'm against forcing equality by forcing inequality on others.
If everybody doesn’t have the same access to “opportunity” and there’s an enormous disparity based on race in that regard....how is that not systemic? All schools should receive equal funding so all the kids receive the same quality of education and thus the same chance. The inequality in tax bases couldve been equalized by taking the billions that were given to other billionaires and businesses just a few months ago.
if everybody doesn't have the same access to "opportunity" and there's an enormous disparity based on race in that regard....how is that not systemic" you can't judge the system on the disparity, there are many factors contributing to the disparity.
over the last 3 1/2 years. 663 more white people were killed by police than black people. does that mean that the system is racist against white people, of course not.. furthermore, the disparity is not based on racism, it's based on socioeconomic status .poor white kids have the same disadvantages as poor black kids in terms of lack of school funding because their tax base is also low. also, if the system was systemically racist, then only poc would be affected. poor school funding affects poor white kids as well.
"all schools should receive equal funding so all the kids receive the same quality of education and thus the same chance" if all peoples earnings were the same, i would agree, but why should i bust my ass at my job to get the best education possible for my kids(if i had any) and pay higher taxes for better schools for your kids at my expense. i would want my money to pay for a better education for my kids, not yours
money does not grow on trees, it comes from the taxpayers, in other words, money is not out there in the ether, it comes from other people. if there was a way to get better funding for schools, other than taking too much money from others, i would be all for it.
"the inequality in tax bases couldve been equalized by taking the billions that were given to other billionaires and businesses just a few months ago" i don't want to debate the intricacies of economics with you, but i'm relatively sure that;'s not true, however even if it were, that money would or should not have been just used for better school funding, there a dozens of other uses that money would be needed for., furthermore, i'm not an economics expert, but any money "given" to businesses and billionaires is for countrywide economics reasons i'm guessing president obamas bailouts of wall street is an example
