Are you kidding me ? That’s So tone deaf , this is a pandemic ,you have no idea what his personal family situation is and the health of his family is far more important than a season that has no chance of finishing anyway . Every player has a right to decide what is best for him and not get criticized for,it or in this case you assert that opting out mean he’s not cut out for the nfl .
In America only 230 people age 15-25 have died of COVID, .0008% of the population in that age range. Far FAR more people in that range have died of car accidents, murder, suicide etc, even more people his age have died of pneumonia this year. The statistics are even less if he has children under the age of 15. Unless he's forced to live with his elderly grandparents, he and his family likely have more risk driving to and from the games.
It doesn't take much fortitude to cease an opportunity like this. The 8 other Giants CB's, 300 other CB's currently on NFL rosters and thousands of other football players that wish they were in his shoes all agree. They'd take a shot at their life long dream even with a 1 in 150,000 chance of falling victim COVID which could just as easily happen while not playing.
I may be jumping to conclusions, maybe he or a family member has one of the 15 pre-existing conditions that put him "At Risk". That may be the case but this definitely sounds more like a COP-out than an Opt-out.
