Fascinating.
John Mara loves fans who settle for mediocrity but are eternal optimists. Worst team in the league for 3 years and homers are still waving their pompoms telling us what a great job DG and the FO has done while continuing to make excuses for them. I hope a couple of you don’t walk through life making as many excuses for yourself as you do the FO, that’s pathetic.
Other teams (Eagles, Rams, 49’ers come to mind) have had complete overhauls and turned their team into Super Bowl winners or competitors in 3-4 years. Some of you would be thrilled and satisfied if we can get to 8-8 in the same amount of time. I’m sure there’s plenty of excuses though.
Eagles win totals since 2006: 10, 8, 9, 11, 10, 8, 4, 10, 10, 7, 7, 13, 9, 9... Not exactly a bad run needing a "complete overhaul". Lots of fine tuning of the roster in Philly over the last decade and a half.
The Rams went from 4 wins in 2016 to 11 in 2017. But what you're failing to realize is that was their first winning season since 2003. They went through 5 head coaches in that time. Not exactly the quick turnaround (14 years!) you're talking about.
The 49ers "overhaul" was 6 years(and 3 head coaches) in the making. 2013 was their last winning season. And we don't know yet if their recent success will be sustained or are they a one-hit wonder.
While I'm not an "eternal optimist", it seems to me you're basis for comparing the Giants franchise rebuild is completely wrong. Maybe if you were more of a realist instead of an eternal pessimist you would be willing to acknowledge Rome wasn't built in a day.
