As a die hard since 1961, yesterday's "performance" was so bad I was reminded of the woefully lackluster and moribund teams of the late 1960s and 1970s...shades of the game in the '60s when the then "Redskins" scored 70 points against the Giants in the old RFK stadium when Sam Huff played for the 'Skins. Those teams were so inept it was comical...yesterday, when Slayton finally caught a pass in "garbage time" then fumbled, my 2 friends on our game conference call all laughed. Really sad to watch the Giants be so bad on all 3 sides of the ball vs a team with 9 starters out. Give great credit to the 9ers who played really well.
In any organization who has failed (Giants lead the NFL in losses over the last few yrs), an evaluation from top leadership down to the lowest level is required. The Giants recent record is embarrassing to this historic and once proud franchise who have had for years a passionate, dedicated fan base who are running out of patience. Most of us fans were excited about JJ and the energy he and his staff brought in the off season. Realistically, we know this is a team rebuild and we were looking to see improvement on all 3 sides of the ball, especially w/the QB development. Where is the improvement? The offense is one dimensional because they can't run. The OL, w/all the FA and draft emphasis, has not improved when the QB is the leading rusher. The QB continues to make poor decisions. The defense, even w/an influx of more athletic LBs and DBs, still can't cover the 2nd string TE nor do they mount a consistent pass rush.
My two die hard friends on our weekly conference call, go back to the games in the 1950's. We 3 follow the Giants passionately daily. Games over the last few years are painful to watch...the best thing from these games is the fellowship we get as a band of Giants brothers. I, along w/my friends respectively ask John Mara and Mr. Tisch to take a serious evaluation of their organization, starting with them, respecting the Giants history, Wellington ("The Duke") Mara, Bob Tisch, and their loyal fan base. They deserve it!
