And he's totally right . Tho the blame doesn't stop with Bettcher,  it also goes to Shurmur and Gettleman
and ultimately Mara.

This is what Banks was discussing post game on Sunday. He’s extremely reserved in his criticism so to me this comes across as a four alarm fire.

He was a hot coach when he was at Arizona.  He had better talent there and the league was not used to his schemes.  He is definitely not a hot prospect now.  I can't remember a Giant defense ever being as bad as this one.

I love how Banks immediately zeroed in on Haley. It takes about two minutes of film to see that you throw to the guy Haley is supposed to be covering. It boggles the mind that the guy is still on the team; much less on the field. That's all on Bettcher. Haley is a special teamer, and nothing else. Bettcher has options. If Haley is on the field it means either Ballentine, Beal or Baker is sitting. They're all better than Haley. It took Bettcher over 10 games to get Baker playing better too. I don't think there's any way Bettcher saves his job at this point.

There are multiple problems when Gettleman decided to go with Betchner and a 3-4. And the funny thing is a 3-4 isn’t rocket science. Especially with what Betchner did in Arizona

1. You need a NT. Check. Lawrence is the guy.
2 you need a MLB or ILB. Nope. Ogletree was a 4-3 inside backer and not only that lacks to sideline to sideline speed needed to play the part. Not only that they need 2. Connelly showed promise but still short 1
3. Need a joker player like Matthau. He is a guy that made it all work. 3-4 is built around hidden coverages. Matthau was a guy that played LB, SS, NIckle corner all in one. He could interchange between any 3 positions based on audibles. Peppers is more of a SS that’s best downhill similar to Collins but is faster. The Giants need a true FS that has the coverage ability and range to play center field. Again Gettleman is trying to put a square peg in a circle hole here
4. Pass rushers. These are the hardest guys to find in a 3-4. Why because they need the strength to set the edge, the speed to cover and rush the passer quality. Golden is good but he does handicap the play calling. Why? Because he is a poor backer in coverage. So you no he is coming. Even though they line up in 3-4 gap assignments it looks like a 4-3. You no the 3 down lineman are coming. And you no Golden is coming. The only unknown is if they send more then 4. And if so. It’s usually Carter or Xman. Again predictable

If you look at the Patriots Defense they send pass rushers from any of the 4 linebackers positions and from any of there saftey positions. That puts stress on the oline. Not at a talent level but mentally. Who picks up who. That’s how Belicheck wins. The mental game. He forces teams into mental errors and miss assignments causing sacks and incompletions that way. Even turnovers

Shurmer and his staff definitely isn’t a mental standout in there coaching abilities or are they creative. On top of that Shurmur never built a foundation to build this team on from day1. Now we have a big mess once again

Bill Sheridan was pretty awful.  He only got 1 season, Bettcher got two.

Woah, you know what this had me thinking.... why isn't Carl Banks a consideration for Defensive coordinator? The guy obviously knows defense. You can draft a Giants alum who is revered by the Giants community. If he does bad maybe that taints his Giants image. idk, just a thought.

Tim Lewis was awful too with his bend don't break BS. Let's face it other than Spags,Fox and Belichick it seems like almost all of the DC's over the last 30 years have been pretty bad and that includes Fewell who everyone wanted out of here.

Carl hasn't shown any interest in coaching to date.  Normally he would start out as a LB coach somewhere before taking on a DC job.  It might be a big leap to jump right in as DC.  He does have the Giant pedigree which Mara and Tisch seem to look for though.
