someplace I came across his career stats.
From JV through high school , to prep school and college
2011 JV 59.5%
2012 High school 50.8 %
2013 High school 57.4%
2014 Community schl.. 49.7
2016 Wyoming (soph.) 56.0 %
2017 Wyoming (Jr.) 56.3%
/that seems to be defining and irrefutable. I have to believe that this knocks this guy down and more than a peg.
It's like the blonde with the incredible bust, who's frigid. Nice to look at, great measurables, but not worth a darn when the action starts..
The guy's a seductress, and likely a work out warrior.
And it changes , in my opinion, what Clevealnd will do. I had a feeling they were going to grab Barkley with the no. 1 under the questionable theory that there were three evenly bunched QB's.
If they grabbed Barkely one of the three had to be there at the four spot. If there's only two elite prospects (and that seems to be the reality of it) then I think they're forced to take
Darnold with the first pick and risk that Barkley will be gone by the time they get to the fourth spot. Of course, that means they likely go Chubb...not so bad.
All based, of course, that the top teams see this information as defining. But in that scenario and with Darnold gone we are faced with Barkley or Rosen.
The arguement's been given that Allen didn't have good receivers, good coaching, or a forgiving system at Wyoming. But the kid hasn';t done it at any level. Just raw NFL type talent should have prevailed and he's 49% in community school???.
I don't see a team like the Browns - with their recent failures from the 30 year old they drafted no.1 to Johnie Manzel or Kizer - taking a man with enormous question marks.. The high upside doesn't justify the correspondingly high risk involved - esp. for that franchise.
I think he's off the table for us and so is Darnold. The only thing that mitigates that (and proves that nothing is certain this year) is that the Cleveland GM keeps on talking about his QB has to be able to play in cold weather. And earlier he noted Darnold's turnovers and less than average NFL hand size. So my ponderous logic has eliminated Darnold, Allen, Barkley and Rosen doesn't want to go there.
Conclusion: Cleveland is still thinking when time runs out and the Giants are up on the clock. Gettleman is so non plussed by these events that he doesn't know who to go with and now The Jets are up. Never happened before and the crowd in Dallas holds a prayer meeting and hopes Troy Aikman falls to them.
