I was going through some of the drafts and several teams absolutely crushed their draft.
1) I think the most obvious and improved team in the NFL are the NY Jets. Wow, their stock is rising. The fact that they were able to acquire Ahmad Gardner, Garrett Wilson, Jermaine Johnson, Breece Hall, and Jeremy Ruckert all in a row was a masterclass in drafting for value and positional value. They were so desperate for a WR/RB upgrade and they got huge upgrades at those positions. They have to be the most improved team in the NFL because of their draft. Can you imagine? The Jets might not suck anymore! 😲
2) The Kansas City Chiefs look highly improved. They upgraded their secondary by grabbing Trent McDuffie with their 1st pick and combined that with a pick of George Karlaftis. They've had real issues with their defense. Then in the second round they got Skyy Moore, a highly needed WR upgrade after losing Tyreek Hill. Then they further upgraded their defense by grabbing Leo Chenal. They took a chance in the 5th round on Darian Kinnard who fell unexpectedly (perhaps a medical issue). The Chiefs, a team already talented enough to make the playoffs got even better from this draft.
3) The Houston Texans had a fantastic draft. This was a team in complete desperation for talent upgrades all over the roster. The Derek Stingley pick does have a bit of risk baked into it since he hasn't played in quite a while. They added Kenyon Green to their OL for a much needed upgrade. Then add a player like Jalen Pitre (safety) who will move in to be a starting player. They also added John Metchie at WR. A position in complete need of an overhaul. He's a day 1 starter. They added Christian Harris (ILB, Alabama) in the 3rd round. Again, another starting caliber player added in the draft. In the 4th round they got Dameon Pierce. I love the value in that pick. Their RB depth chart last season was one of the weirdest things you've ever seen. It was a bunch of RBs completely out of their prime playing at league minimum. They get a future starting RB in the 4th round who has a bit of that "Kareem Hunt" kind of energy in him. Just a ball of muscle who runs with power. What an improvement with 1 draft!
