Happy July 15th my fellow fans. Not much going on in the football world so I haven’t been on here much since OTAs
I was listening to Pat Kirwan today on my way from work and some interesting things he was talking about I believe ties into the Giants last few years and injuries they have been going through with players
Someone posted a while ago about why the Giants have had so many injuries the last few years. I remember posting on this and talked about I believed injuries tie into losing and winning and if a team stinks and are not in contention I believed players will string the injuries out or miss games that they normally wouldn’t miss if they were in contention for playoff seeding.
Pat Kirwan actually took this in this direction and this is why I put Gettleman into the thread title. To sum it up. He was talking about the Bengals and long term contracts and taking care of players long term that they can afford. Some teams have a reputation of not doing so. And that trickle’s down into the players and how they handle there business especially with injuries. Example he used was if a player is hurt but can play. He is putting himself at risk. If a team doesn’t have a good reputation of taking care of there own why would I (the player with an injury) put myself at risk for this team when my contract is up I’m out of here and not getting taken care of.
This is where Gettleman comes in. Gettleman had a reputation of not taking care of players. Steve Smith aired his laundry on Gettleman when the Giants hired him. JPP traded, Odell, Vernon etc. list goes on and on. Obviously Gettlemans reputation in my opinion trickled into the locker room and how players handled themselves on a day to day basis. So I’m just wondering if this was a major card that was played by Giants players over the last few year based off of them not having confidence in the Giants front office as being taken care of if they played hurt.?!?! So instead of playing through an injury they did not play magnifying how many players were consistently out with injuries.?!?! Think about it. I think this cup holds water. Was Gettlemans reputation a big factor in how the players handled there injuries and how many players were hurt?
